The Hillcrest Academy softball team dropped a Southeast Iowa Superconference contest in Kalona Thursday to the visiting Wapello Arrows 12-3. The Wapello offense was hot early, scoring in each of the first five frames, two each in the first and second innings, one in the third, a five run fourth and a pair in the fifth. Hillcrest got their three runs during a second inning rally.
The Ravens were out hit 11-6 in the contest. The Arrows drew 10 walks to five for Hillcrest. Ada Boysen was the winning pitcher for Wapello, going the distance and striking out a dozen. Malia Yoder took the loss for the Ravens, throwing all seven with eight Ks. Macey Kuntz and Rachel Hoeg each had two hits for Wapello. Mila Jordan and Clara Ball drove in a pair each for the Arrows. Ball, Boysen, and Jaden Ecklund scored twice each. Delaney Shaw and Adrianne Blauvelt each had two hits, Blauvelt drove in a pair. Kylee Statler added an RBI and Claire Withrow, Lydia Beachy and Stavia Miller each scored. The win moved Wapello to 5-6 on the year as the Ravens fall to 3-4.
