The Highland Huskies and Hillcrest Academy Ravens met Friday for a Southeast Iowa Superconference baseball and softball doubleheader in Riverside. On the softball diamond, the Highland Huskies got a perfect outing from pitcher Grace Prybil to highlight a 12-0, three inning win. She was untouched, sitting down all nine she faced in order, striking out three. On offense, the Huskies pounded out 10 hits, three for extra bases, and took advantage of two Raven errors. Maia Singbeil drove in three on a triple. Lilly Barre had two RBI and scored three times. Adisyn Prottsman, Mackenzie Davis and Madison Beeson each drove in one. Sarah Burton and Payton Brun each had two hits and scored twice. Larissa Murphy scored two runs. The win helped Highland to improve to 5-4 as Hillcrest falls to 3-5.

The boys matchup went the Raven’s way 9-3. Each team got a single run in the fourth. Hillcrest added another in the sixth for a 2-1 lead late. With one last chance to add on, the Ravens didn’t waste it, scoring seven times in the top of the seventh to go up 9-1. Highland’s own final frame rally came up short, plating two runs. The Ravens out hit the Huskies 8-5 in total, including three extra base knocks. Rowan Miller led Hillcrest at the plate with three RBI on two hits and a run scored. Lawson Schrock belted a homer and drove in a pair on two hits. Mason Helmuth had two hits and two RBI, Mason Bender also drove in two. Liam Schrock and Seth Ours both scored twice. Ours was the winning pitcher, going six, allowing three hits, three runs, walking one and striking out 10. For Highland, Logan McFarland had a pair of hits, William Dunbar and Caleb Wheeler each had one. Wheeler added an RBI and Landon Roling, Colten Sypherd and Tristin Richardson all scored once. Sypherd took the loss, working six and a third frames, giving up four hits, four runs and striking out eight. Hillcrest stands at 6-1 after the win as the Huskies fall to 4-8.
