Trips across the state await the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams this weekend. The Golden Hawk boys make their annual trek to the College World Series in Omaha. On the way, the Hawks will make a stop in Council Bluffs to take on St. Albert High School. Mid-Prairie is 11-6 this year after a loss at Iowa City Regina on Thursday. They are ranked No. 9 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. On the year, the Hawks are hitting .286 as a team with a .459OBP and .368 slug. They have scored 106 runs on 104 hits with 99 walks and 86 strikeouts. Individually, Luke Traetow is hitting .391 to lead. Tatem Telfer has a team best 17 total hits and 16RBI. He and Brady Weber have scored 14 runs. On the mound, Mid-Prairie has a 3.06ERA with a .227 opponent average on 86 hits, 42 earned runs, 74 walks and 129 strikeouts. Telfer is 3-1 with a 2.29ERA. Bowen Burmeister, Brock Harland and Carson Pence all have multiple wins.

Council Bluffs St. Albert is 7-11 this year and 5-6 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Falcons were beaten by Lewis Central 10-3 on Thursday. For the year, St. Albert is hitting .276 as a team with a .375OBP and .345 slug. They have scored 76 runs on 124 hits with 52 walks and 83 strikeouts. Individually, Owen Marshall is hitting .411 with a team best 23 total hits and 18 runs scored. Jeremiah Sherrill and Jaxson Lehnen have each driven in a team best 10 runs. On the mound, their team ERA is 5.17 with a .225 average against on 122 hits with 78 earned runs, 80 walks and 97 strikeouts. Marshall and Connor Holly are a combined 4-1 with a 2.75ERA. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. in Council Bluffs.

The Golden Hawk girls are in the Fort Dodge Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Harlan Rodgers Sports Complex, home of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Softball Championships. The Hawks are 5-8 this year and 4-6 in the RVC after an 8-5 win on Thursday at No. 13 in Class 2A Durant. On the season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .321 as a group with a .424OBP and .467 slug with 90 runs on 97 hits, 36 walks and 67 strikeouts. Individually, Gabi Robertson, Dakota Mitchell and Sophie Miller are all hitting .400 or better with Robertson leading at .429. Mitchell and Miller are tied with a team best 15 hits, Miller has driven in a team high 15, and Mitchell has scored a team most 18 runs. In the circle, Kadence Grout has compiled a 4-6 record in 48 innings with a .368 opponent average on 81 hits, 30 earned runs, 11 walks and 25Ks for a 4.38ERA.

Their first matchup in the tournament is against the home team from Fort Dodge Public. The Dodgers are 13-4 overall and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They were 5-0 winners over Estherville Lincoln Central in their contest Tuesday. For the year, the Dodgers are hitting .346 as a team with a .440OBP and .464 slug with 128 runs on 129 hits with 58 walks and 35 strikeouts. Individually, a trio are hitting over .400, led by Hope Alstott at .422 with a team best 19 total hits. Meah McCaleb has scored 24 times and Ellie Doster has driven in 12. In the circle, Fort Dodge has a 2.31 team ERA with a .231 opponent batting average on 92 hits, 31 earned runs, 14 walks and 77 strikeouts. Lucy Porter is 9-4 on the year with a 2.54ERA. These two teams have met twice in the last three seasons with the Dodgers winning both matchups.
