
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest Monday following a report of sexual abuse in Mt. Pleasant.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred on Sunday, June 9 in the 1500 grid of Old Highway 34. The victim stated that 45-year-old Andrew Joseph Evans committed the sexual abuse, and that it was not the first time. Officers were also advised that the victim had a recording of the incident on a cell phone, and the clothes they were wearing on the night of the incident saved in a bag. Upon conducting a search warrant, these items were found just as described.
Evans was taken into custody and charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, June 21 at 9 a.m.
