The Washington Demons picked up another victory on the softball diamond Friday night by going on the road and knocking off Marion 8-5. Washington took the early lead with a run in the first inning but fell behind after Marion scored three times in the third.

Fortunately, the Demons had an answer, exploding for five runs in the fifth to take a 6-5 lead. The Wolves pulled back within a run in the sixth, but Washington scored twice for insurance in the seventh and got the last three outs of the victory without incident.

With the win, the Demons are now 17-4. Washington, ranked seventh in the state in Class 3A, is off this weekend and will return to play Monday when they start a conference series against Keokuk with a road doubleheader.
