The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams are back on the road tonight for a set of River Valley Conference contests with the West Liberty Comets. The Golden Hawk boys are 12-6 on the season, 9-3, first place in the RVC South, after a 14-3 win at Council Bluffs St. Albert Friday. The Hawks are hitting .287 as a team with a .451OBP and .376 slug. Mid-Prairie has scored 125 runs on 129 hits with 113 walks and 104 strikeouts. Four Hawks are hitting .300 or better including Luke Traetow in the lead at .400, Tatem Telfer with 20 hits and 18RBI and Brady Weber with 18 runs. On the mound, the Hawks have a staff ERA of 3.29 with a .239 opponent average on 109 hits with 54 earned runs and 141 strikeouts. Individually, Telfer and Carson Pence have each won three games with a combined 3.10ERA. Bowen Burmeister and Brock Harland have also won two games each.

West Liberty is 9-9 this year, 5-3 in the River Valley after suffering a sweep against Wilton Friday by a combined 23-6 score. As a team, the Comets hit .234 with a .372OBP and .284 slug. Two Comets are hitting over .300 led by Ryker Dengler at .395. Dengler and Tytan Griffith are tied for the team lead with 15 hits. Griffith has driven in 12 and Ryan Cassady has scored 14 times. West Liberty has a team ERA of 4.15 with a .249 opponent average on 99 hits, 61 earned runs and 84 strikeouts. Joseph Delgado is 3-0 with a 0.97ERA. Mid-Prairie has won 30 of the last 35 in the series including a sweep of all three games last season.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 6-11 this season and 4-6 in the River Valley after dropping three of four games at the Fort Dodge Tournament over the weekend. The Hawks got their win over Central Springs, but fell against Iowa City Regina, Clarksville and the home Dodgers. Mid-Prairie is hitting .321 as a team with a .424OBP and .467 slug with 90 runs on 97 hits with 36 walks and 67 strikeouts. Three Hawks are hitting .400 or better, led by Gabi Robertson at .429. Dakota Mitchell and Sophie Miller each have 15 hits. Mitchell has scored a team best 18 runs and Miller has a team best 15RBI. In the circle, Kadence Grout has a 4.38ERA with a .368 opponent average, giving up 81 hits, 30 earned runs, 11 walks and 25strikeouts.

West Liberty is 11-5 this year, 6-3 in the River Valley after a 9-3 loss to Muscatine Wednesday. The Comets are ranked No. 14 in Class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. West Liberty hits .308 as a team with a .438OBP and .425 slug. Sully Hall is the leader with a .449 average with 22 total hits and 17RBI. Brynn Cassady has scored 23 times. In the circle, Mallory Wulf has worked 48 innings with a 3.06ERA, .239 opponent average, allowing 47 hits, 21 earned runs 20 walks and 37 strikeouts. West Liberty has won 17 of the last 18 in the series, including two of three a year ago.
