The Keota Eagle baseball team toppled conference rival Iowa Valley in a 7-6 thriller Friday night. Keota trailed 2-1 after an inning of play but scored twice in the third to take a brief lead.
After the Tigers put up two runs in the fourth to go back in front, three runs in the fifth put the Eagles ahead 6-4. Iowa Valley tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but Keota scored once in the bottom half and got three outs to secure victory.
The win helps the Eagles improve to 3-7 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 6-8 overall. Keota softball would not have the same good luck Friday night, suffering a 16-6 loss to Iowa Valley.
In addition to a loss to Hillcrest Academy the next day, the Eagles were also beaten 15-3 by Holy Trinity Catholic at the Hillcrest Classic Saturday. Keota is now 1-9 in conference play and 1-12 in total.
Both Eagle teams are back on the diamond tonight against their rivals from Sigourney. You can catch Keota baseball square off with Sigourney in the KCII Area Game of the Week, starting with pregame coverage this evening at 5 o’clock exclusively streaming on KCIIradio.com.
