Life on the road continues Tuesday for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team as they travel to Fairfield to meet the Trojans. The Golden Hawk boys are 13-7 on the season, 10-4, first place in the RVC South, after a split at West Liberty Monday, winning 6-2 and falling 8-1. The Hawks are receiving votes in this week’s Class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie is hitting .287 as a team with a .451OBP and .376 slug. Mid-Prairie has scored 125 runs on 129 hits with 113 walks and 104 strikeouts. Four Hawks are hitting .300 or better including Luke Traetow in the lead at .400, Tatem Telfer with 20 hits and 18RBI and Brady Weber with 18 runs all lead. On the mound, the Hawks have a staff ERA of 3.29 with a .239 opponent average on 109 hits with 54 earned runs and 141 strikeouts. Individually, Telfer and Carson Pence have each won three games with a combined 3.10ERA. Bowen Burmeister and Brock Harland have also won two games each.

Fairfield is 14-7 this year, 7-3 in the Southeast Conference after splitting their own Monday league doubleheader, beating Mount Pleasant 9-3 then falling to the Panthers 12-7. On the year, the Trojans are hitting .327 as a team with a .426OBP and .399 slug with 149 runs on 194 hits with 82 walks and 123 strikeouts. Eight Trojans are hitting .300 or better, led by Aidan Kreuter at .467. Dain Burkart has a team best 26 hits and 20 RBI. Cason Miller has scored 21 times. On the bump, Fairfield has a team 3.80ERA with a .240 opponent average against, giving up 130 hits, 75 earned runs, 34 walks and 111 strikeouts. Burkhart and Tallon Bates are a combined 6-1 this year with a 2.40ERA. Mid-Prairie has won three of the last four in the series, but it was the Trojans taking a 4-0 victory last season.
