The KCII listening area is under a Heat Advisory until 8 pm this evening. According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, peak afternoon temperatures could reach between 95 and 100 degrees. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. As a reminder, the YMCA of Washington County and all Washington County Public Libraries are available as cooling centers during their open hours.
