With the recent heatwave, the new Jacquelyn J. Singmaster Murphy Aquatic Center in Keota has gotten plenty of use from residents and guests. Open for about a month now, a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration for the facility will be held on Sunday afternoon.
Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on June 23, the City as well as the Aquatic Foundation encourage all to attend these festivities. Keota City Administrator, Alycia Horras, spoke with KCII about how much of a blessing the new center has been. “This is something that has been in the making for several years and we had some very dedicated residents that this would not be a reality without them. [I’m] just very thankful to everyone that has helped or fundraised and we just want to welcome any and all to come and check it out.”
Featuring a splashpad, zipline, and plenty of other amenities, the Keota Aquatic Center is located at 501 South Fulton Street.
