A pretrial conference is scheduled in Washington tomorrow for 21-year-old Keegan Gingerich of Kalona.
Gingerich received six felony charges stemming from a criminal complaint filed in early February that stated he strategically placed holes in residential walls to discreetly view and record a person under 18 years of age. Among the felonies are sexual exploitation of a minor, stalking a person under 18 years of age, and purchasing or possessing a depiction of a minor in a sex act. Gingerich pleaded not guilty to the charges in March.
With both the defendant and defense counsel present, the conference will allow them to verify whether discovery is complete or identify what discovery remains. They will also estimate the length of the trial and decide the number of alternate jurors.
The pretrial conference is at 9:15 a.m. Friday in the Washington County Courthouse. A jury trial for Gingerich is scheduled for July 9.
