The Highland baseball team toppled Louisa-Muscatine 13-8 Tuesday night. The Huskies led 2-1 after one inning but really got going on offense with six runs in the top of the third.

Louisa-Muscatine countered with five runs in the bottom half and would tie the game at 8 by scoring twice in the fourth. But Highland would go back in front with a run in the fifth and not only blank the Falcons the rest of the way, but also get four insurance runs in the seventh.

Junior Logan McFarland led the Huskies with two hits, four runs batted in and three runs scored. Freshman Garrett Beeson had two hits and two RBI, while junior Will Dunbar also came up with a pair of knocks and drove in one. Landon Roling added two base hits and a run scored, while fellow freshman Presten Smith crossed home plate twice in addition to a hit and a RBI.

Eighth-grader Cash Cole, freshman Hunter Seibel, sophomore Hunter Thompson and juniors Colton Sypherd and Ryker Miller each added a hit and a run as Highland improves to 6-2 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 8-10 overall.

Husky softball would be on the wrong side of things in a tight contest with Louisa-Muscatine, falling on the road Monday 4-3. Senior Sarah Burton had a big game at the plate for Highland, hitting a home run and two doubles on her way to scoring twice.

Senior Madison Beeson had a three-hit game for the Huskies, while eighth-grader Maiya Singbeil added a pair of base knocks and one run batted in as Highland drops to 8-3 in the Super Conference North and 10-7 in total.
