The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball and baseball teams take the field Friday. The Golden Hawk girls are at the Linn-Mar and Alburnett tournament where they open against No. 3 in Class 4A Fort Dodge. The Hawks are 6-13 this season, 4-8 in the River Valley after being swept at No. 14 in Class 3A West Liberty Monday by 4-2 and 12-2 scores. This season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .321 as a team with a .411OBP and .436 slug, scoring 115 runs on 139 hits with 43 walks and 79 strikeouts. Three Golden Hawks are over .400 led by Dakota Mitchell with a .434 average on a team best 23 hits with 24 runs scored. Sophie Miller has knocked in a team high 17. In the circle, Kadence Grout owns a 5-8 record in 66 innings with a .362 opponent average on 109 hits, 46 earned runs, 17 walks, 28 strikeouts and a 4.90ERA.

Fort Dodge is 18-6 this year after a 4-3 loss to No. 8 in Class 5A Ankeny Wednesday. The Dodgers are ranked No. 3 in Class 4A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. On the season, they are hitting .344 as a team with a .419OBP and .455 slug with 173 runs on 193 hits with 66 walks and 52 strikeouts. Individually, four Dodgers are hitting better than .400, led by Calleigh Zimmerman at .460. Meah McCaleb has a team best 35 runs scored and 28 hits. Ellie Doster has driven in 18. In the circle, Lucy Porter is 12-5 in 90 innings with a .207 opponent average on 75 hits, 32 earned runs, 16 walks and 81 strikeouts with a 2.51ERA. Fort Dodge has won all three meetings between the two schools including 10-0 last weekend in a tournament. Action starts Friday at noon and continues into the afternoon and evening.

The Mid-Prairie boys are 15-7 on the season, 11-4, first place in the River Valley Conference South Division after a 12-10 win at West Liberty Thursday. The Hawks are receiving votes in this week’s Class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. On the season, Mid-Prairie is hitting .297 as a team with a .455OBP and .380 slug. They have 156 runs on 165 hits with 137 walks and 128 strikeouts. Individually, Luke Traetow is at .385 to lead with a team best 26 total hits from Tatem Telfer. Telfer and Bowen Burmeister are tied with a team best 20RBI. Brady Weber is best with 22 runs scored. On the mound, the staff ERA is 3.45 with a .247 opponent average on 141 hits, 70 earned runs, 101 walks and 165Ks. Telfer is 4-1 with a 2.55ERA. Burmeister, Brock Harland, and Carson Pence have won a combined eight games with a four ERA.

Durant is 14-10 this year, 6-6 in the RVC after a Wednesday sweep of ACGC. This year the Wildcats are hitting .273 with a .398OBP and .323 slug with 133 runs on 176 hits with 102 walks and 136 strikeouts. Individually, four Wildcats are .300 or better at the plate led by Colby Gast at .484 with a team best 31 hits. Gast and Trey Ramer have each scored 19 times and Ryan Wulf has driven in 17. On the mound, The club ERA is 3.37 with a .199 opponent average on 123 hits with 79 earned runs, 93 walks and 186 strikeouts. Wulf is 5-1 with a 2.25ERA. These teams have split their last 30 matchups with Mid-Prairie winning four straight including a sweep of three games a season ago.
