The Washington City Council discussed rejecting the bid for the Wellness Park Concession stand at their Tuesday meeting. After only receiving one bid, the consensus between city staff and council members was to return to the drawing board. City Parks Director Nick Pacha shared his thoughts, “Super bare bones, it’s actually thirty-two by twenty-two, in the small concession area the only furnishings we are spacing is a three basin sink and a hand washing sink, which would be required by health code. We would do the cabinet work and counter tops in house, with the lumber yard of Menards kind of thing price check. Go very low-cost on that. And then two bathrooms and a mechanical room which would have heat for the bathrooms and concession area.” The one bid that was received for the concession stand project was just under $300,000. The Parks Department will be bringing a new plan to the Council in the future.
