The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams return home Monday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader, hosting the Durant Wildcats. The Golden Hawk girls are 6-17 on the season and 4-8 in the RVC after an 0-4 weekend at the Linn-Mar tournament where they dropped contests to Fort Dodge, Alburnett, Cedar Rapids Xavier and West Delaware. This year the Golden Hawks are hitting .321 as a team with a .411OBP and .436 slug with 115 runs on 139 hits with 43 walks and 79 strikeouts. Individually, three Hawks are hitting .400 or better, led by Dakota Mitchell’s team best .434 average with 23 hits and 24 runs scored. Sophie Miller has a team high 17RBI. In the circle Kadence Grout and Alena Snider have combined on a 5.38ERA with a .355 opponent average on 147 hits with 75 earned runs, 35 walks and 44 strikeouts. Grout has a 5-8 record and 4.90ERA.

Durant is 14-14 this year after going 1-3 at the Linn-Mar tourney with a win over Fort Madison and losses to Johnston, Alburnett and Northeast Goose Lake. This season the Wildcats are hitting .321 as a group with a .412OBP and .417 slug, scoring 173 runs on 210 hits, 91 walks and 127 strikeouts. Individually, Allison Toft is the leader with the bat, hitting .435. She and Isabelle DeLong are tied for the team lead with 23 driven in. Avery Paper has a team best 32 total hits and 29 runs scored. In the circle, the Wildcats own a 4.54 team ERA with a .257 opponent average, 208 hits allowed, 104 earned runs, 106 walks and 108 strikeouts. Isla Petersen and Raylynn Schlapkohl are a combined 11-7 with a 4.55ERA. The Golden Hawks have won six straight in the series including an 8-5 victory two weeks ago in Durant.

The Mid-Prairie boys are 16-7 overall, 12-4, first place in the River Valley South after a 3-0 win on the road over Durant Friday that included a combined no-hitter from Tatem Telfer and Gentry Bontrager. The Hawks are hitting .297 as a team with a .452OBP and .376 slug, scoring 159 runs, on 172 hits, with 140 walks and 131Ks. Individually, three Golden Hawks are hitting .300 or better, led by Luke Traetow’s .375. Bowen Burmeister and Telfer both have 26 hits and 20 driven in. Brady Weber has a team high 22 runs scored. On the mound, the Mid-Prairie  ERA is 3.29 with a .239 opponent average on 141 hits, 70 earned runs, 108 walks and 181 strikeouts. Individually, Telfer is 5-1 with a 1.95ERA. Brock Harland, Burmeister and Carson Pence all have multiple wins and a combined ERA of four.

Durant is 14-11 this season and 6-7 in conference. Their last time on the diamond was Friday when they were no-hit by Mid-Prairie. On the season, the Wildcats have a .273 team average at the plate with a .398OBP and .323 slug, scoring 133 runs on 176 hits with 102 walks and 136 strikeouts. Individually, four Wildcats are hitting .400 or better, led by Colby Gast at .484 with 31 hits. He and Trey Ramer have a team best 19 runs scored and Ryan Wulf has 17RBI. On the mound, the Wildcat staff has a 3.37ERA and .199 opponent average on 123 hits with 79 earned runs, 93 walks and 186 strikeouts. Wulf is 5-1 with a 2.25ERA. Mid-Prairie has won six straight in the series, including Friday’s 3-0 win on the road.
