The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team made it seven wins in their last eight games Monday, with an 8-3 road victory at Van Buren. The Warriors got one in the first, but Hillcrest took control with four in the second and two more in the third to build a 6-1 cushion. The Warriors got single tallies in the third and sixth with the Ravens scoring once in each of the fourth and fifth to hold Van Buren at bay.
Hillcrest out hit the Warriors 12-5 in the win and capitalized on five walks, two hit batters and one Van Buren error. Phoenix Anderson and Lincoln Miller each drove in two. Miller did it on two hits, Anderson one. Lawson Schrock had two hits and an RBI, Mason Helmuth had two hits and scored three times. Mason Bender scored twice. Liam Schrock went the distance on the mound for the win, with five hits, two earned runs, two walks and two Ks. Hillcrest is 13-3 with the win, Van Buren dips to 7-13.
