Two KCII area schools get together on the baseball and softball diamonds tonight in Kalona when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens entertain the Highland Huskies. The Raven baseball team is 14-3 overall, 8-1 and leading the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division, after a 19-5 road win over Wapello Thursday. This year, the Ravens are hitting .291 as a team with a .434OBP and .387 slug with 158 runs on 139 hits, 103 walks and 115 strikeouts. Individually, five Ravens are hitting .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller at .469 with 23 total hits and 22RBI. Liam Schrock has scored a team high 26 times. On the mound, the Hillcrest team ERA is 3.17 with a .220 opponent average on 95 hits, 50 earned runs, 39 walks and 91 strikeouts. Individually Ours is 4-1 with a 2.69ERA, while Liam Schrock, Lawson Schrock and Rowan Miller are a combined 8-0 with a 2.60ERA.
Highland is 10-3 on the year, 7-3 in conference play after a loss to Winfield-Mt. Union 4-2 Thursday in Riverside. This year the Huskies are hitting .245 as a team with a .389OBP and .298 slug. They have scored 132 runs on 145 hits with 105 walks and 211 strikeouts. Individually, four Huskies are hitting .300 or better led by William Dunbar’s .382 average with 26 total hits. Logan McFarland has scored and driven in 18 runs. On the mound, the Huskies have a 5.50ERA with a .273 opponent average on 179 total hits, 121 earned runs 110 walks and 124 strikeouts. Hunter Seibel and Colten Sypherd have each won three games with a four ERA. These teams have split their last 30 meetings evenly, but the Ravens have won three straight including a 9-3 victory earlier this season. Action starts at 5:30 this evening in Kalona.
The Hillcrest girls are 10-11 this year, 6-6 in the Superconference North, after a 6-0 loss at Wapello Thursday. For the year, Hillcrest is hitting .303 as a team with a .415OBP and .416 slug, scoring 152 runs on 152 hits with 88 walks and 143 strikeouts. Three Ravens are hitting .400 or better led by Malia Yoder at .574 with 35 total hits, 28 runs scored and 27RBI. Delaney Shaw has a .422 average and Claire Withrow is right at .400. Yoder also leads in the circle with a 10-9 record, .191 opponent average on 105 hits, 56 earned runs, 70 walks and 147Ks with a 3.71ERA.
Highland is 16-8 overall after an 11-0 win over Winfield-Mt. Union Thursday. The Huskies hit .322 as a team with a .421OBP and .462 slug with 201 runs on 192 hits, 87 walks and 132 strikeouts. Individually, three Huskies are hitting .400 or better, led by Payton Brun at .459 with 26RBI. Sarah Burton has scored 41 times and has 32 total hits. In the circle, Highland’s team ERA is 1.88 with a .206 opponent average on 110 hits, 38 earned runs, 37 walks and 144 strikeouts. Grace Prybil is 12-3 with a 1.14ERA.
