Both Lone Tree teams suffered losses to Louisa-Muscatine on the diamond last night. Lion baseball matched the Falcons’ first-inning run and would keep the game tied until the fourth, but they got a run of their own in the fifth to again even the game at two.

Lone Tree briefly took a lead by scoring once in the top of the sixth, but Louisa-Muscatine put up three runs in the bottom half of the inning that would end up being the difference.

Sophomore Emmett Burke had three hits to lead the Lion lineup and scored one run, while Jack Patterson came up with two runs batted in on one base hit and fellow junior Brody Magruder added a hit and a run scored.

Freshman Owen Eden pitched all six innings for Lone Tree, allowing seven hits and four walks while collecting six strikeouts as the Lions fall to 3-6 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North and 5-12 overall.

Lone Tree softball would not have better luck, as a 2-0 deficit after one inning grew even more when Louisa-Muscatine scored five times in the third. The Falcons went on to win 10-0 after five frames.

The Lions drop their sixth straight, now at 7-5 in the Super Conference North and 11-11 in total. Both Lone Tree teams try to bounce back when they return to action tonight against Wapello.
