After a Friday washout, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team has plans to travel back to Iowa City to try to get in games scheduled for the second day, Saturday, of the University of Iowa Tournament. The slate includes a morning game with Davenport Central and an afternoon affair against Davenport West. Mid-Prairie enters play with a 7-18 overall record after splitting a doubleheader with Durant Monday in Kalona, beating the Wildcats in extras in game one 10-9 before bowing to Durant 5-1 in game two. On the year, the Hawks hit .298 as a team, with a .390OBP and .391 slug, scoring 129 runs on 173 hits with 59 walks and 115 strikeouts. Individually, five Golden Hawks are hitting . 300 or better, led by Dakota Mitchell at .420 with 29 total hits and 28 runs scored. Kadence Grout is the team leader with 17RBI. Grout also leads in the circle with a 5-11 record and .367 opponent average on 142 hits, 66 earned runs 19 walks, 32 strikeouts and a 5.59ERA.

Davenport Central is 12-13 overall. They swept a doubleheader from Central DeWitt Thursday in their last action. This year the Blue Devils hit .345 as a team with a .412OBP and .477slug with 152 runs on 220 hits with 70 walks and 82 strikeouts. Individually, eight Devils hit .300 or better, led by Bianca Shorter at .500 with 32 RBI. She and Kasadie Jergens both have 35 hits. Jergens has scored 26 times. In the circle, Central has a team ERA of five with a .318 opponent average on 214 hits, 103 earned runs 76 walks and 147 strikeouts. Shorter is 4-6 with a 3.23ERA. These teams last met in 2010, with Mid-Prairie taking a 3-2 win.

Davenport West is 7-16 this year, they were swept in a doubleheader Monday by Davenport Assumption with a combined 12-6 score. This season, the Falcons hit .247 as a team with a .345OBP and .353 slug with 102 runs on 156 hits with 87 walks and 110 strikeouts. Individually, Madison Sparks is the leader at .359 with 28 total hits. Hannah Mitchell has scored 20 times and Aubrey Mitchell has driven in 17. In the circle, West has a team ERA of 4.46 with a .292 opponent average on 221 hits, 98 earned runs, 58 walks and 59 strikeouts. Sparks is 3-11 with a 4.10ERA. West has won three straight over Mid-Prairie including a 13-1 win in 2021.
