Sigourney baseball scratched out a 3-1 victory over Central City Thursday night. The Savages broke a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth inning, and when the Wildcats responded with the tying run in the top of the fifth, Sigourney scored twice in the bottom half and would stay in front the rest of the way.

Issac Bruns led the Savage lineup with two hits and two runs batted in, while fellow junior Brady Clark had a hit and a run scored. Senior Jake Moore and freshman Lincoln Power each scored as well, but the real star for Sigourney was pitcher Chase Clarahan.

The freshman threw the first six-and-two-thirds innings and allowed no earned runs on three hits and two walks. Clarahan also racked up six strikeouts, while Moore got the final out and the save as the Savages, ranked 10th in the state in Class 1A, improve to 17-2.
