The Washington Demons took a close 11-10 loss to Burlington baseball Thursday night. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, and while the Demons took a brief lead with thee runs in the top of the second, the Greyhounds scored four times in the bottom half to go in front.
Washington used four runs in the fourth to take a 9-6 lead, but Burlington would get the game even again with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Demons scored once in the top of the seventh to grab a late lead, but the Greyhounds scored twice in the bottom half to walk off for a victory.
Luke Beenblossom came up with two hits, including a double, and two runs batted in while also scoring a run for Washington, while fellow senior Caleb Zieglowsky also stroked a double on his way to two hits and two RBI.
Sophomore Kael Williams scored a team-high four runs and drove in a pair on a base hit as the Demons fall to 3-11 in the Southeast Conference and 4-16 overall. Washington will next play Monday night against Pella. You can hear Demon baseball Monday starting at 7 p.m. on 106.1 FM KCII.
