In observance of the Fourth of July, the City of Wellman is hosting its annual Independence Day Celebration, sponsored by the Wellman Community Club.

At 7 a.m. on July 4, sunrise yoga kicks things off at the bandshell. This is followed by a spin class at the Wellman-Parkside YMCA with registration required. In downtown Wellman, festivities start with the Kiddie Parade at 9:30 a.m., and Main Parade at 10. Freeman Foods will be grilling steak sandwiches and rib-on-a-stick during and after the parade. The Heritage Museum opens to the public at 11 a.m., and the Kids Pedal Pull is at 11:30.

Guests can then rest up for a busy afternoon, as events resume at 4 p.m. in North Park. Nathan Klostermann with the Wellman Community Club shared some kids activities in the park as well as local vendors who will be on site. “We’ll have barrel rides up at the park, we’ll have pony rides available again. We’ve got the Tipsy Travelers coming to us who will be doing craft cocktails, Kona Ice for kids and adults for that matter. Country Cookin’ is joining us, along with Stone Wall Brick Oven Pizza. Revels Mobile Meatery will also be on site.”

Klostermann is the opening musical performance, after which Old Man Band will take the stage. It all leads up to the fireworks at dusk. For safety reasons, anyone planning to attend is asked to not park along 1st Avenue or Highway 22.
