The Highland Huskies toppled their conference rivals, the Lone Tree Lions, 6-3 in softball Monday night. Highland scored four runs in the second inning to break a scoreless tie and added two more tallies in the fourth. Lone Tree would try to mount a rally with three runs in the fifth, but they would not be able to come all the way back.

Sarah Burton led the Huskies at the plate with two hits, including a home run, two runs scored and four runs batted in. Fellow senior Peyton Brun also had two knocks and one RBI, while eighth-grader Kamryn Fink drove in one and scored twice on two hits.

Senior pitcher Grace Prybil got the victory in the circle for Highland, allowing six hits and two walks in six-and-a-third innings while picking up four strikeouts. The Huskies finish play in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference this season at 12-3 and have an overall record of 17-8.

Meanwhile, Lone Tree falls 7-6 in the Super Conference North and 12-12 in total. The Lions are back in action tonight when they wrap up conference action by taking on Wapello.
