For the second straight season, the Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team brought home the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division Championship, officially clinching with a 5-3 win over Louisa-Muscatine in Kalona Monday. The game, originally a weather postponement, restarted in the third inning with Hillcrest on top 3-1. The Ravens saw the Falcons trim the margin to 3-2 with a third inning run before finding two of their own in the fifth for the insurance they needed. Rowan Miller went the distance on the mound for the Ravens, giving up four hits and two earned runs, walking and striking out three each to lock down Louisa-Muscatine. Hillcrest got just enough offense with an RBI each for Miller and Seth Ours while Miller and Mason Bender had the lone hits. Phoenix Anderson, Liam and Lawson Schrock, Lincoln Miller and Kale Bailey all scored. Hillcrest has now won 21 of the their last 22 North Division games dating back to last season, taking back-to-back division crowns.
The Ravens are 9-1 in conference and 15-3 overall. They are back on the diamond Saturday when they host HLV to begin the 1A Playoffs.
