Occurring once every five years, Richland Homecoming is set to make its return Friday, July 5-Sunday July 7.
Friday kicks off Homecoming with a bang, literally, as the Flashing Thunder Fireworks start around 9:30 p.m. Earlier that afternoon, there will be a welcome from the Richland Community Club, Absolute Science Foam Cannons, a parrot show, and live music in Alumni Park.
Saturday, July 6 is the busiest of the three days, with wall-to-wall activities beginning at 7 a.m. That’s when participants can sign up for the Frogtown Run/Walk, which starts at 8. Eight o’clock is also when cookies and pies for the contest can be dropped off, set to be judged at 9 a.m. The Kiddie Parade at 10 is followed by the Big Parade at 10:30.
Once the parade concludes, festivities only ramp up Saturday afternoon and evening. Food vendors, live music, games, a walk-through of the new daycare building, face painting, and a community dinner are just a fraction of the full schedule. Sunday features a church service and lunch at the fire station to close things out.
Alisa Tolle, a member of the Community Club, which is hosting the event, encourages any and all to attend this year, especially those who have never seen the town. “Richland is a nice little community of just under 600 people. We have a lot of amenities. We have a lot of businesses. We are growing. Just come and look at our nice, small, clean community. We are just looking for treating people well, and giving them a good time and entertainment.”
