The cities of Washington and Brighton are holding respective special elections on August 6, and voters are advised of the deadline to pre-register.
In a release from Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer, pre-registration must be completed by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22. Worry-free postmarks for registration forms submitted by mail are the same day. For those voting in person, registration may be completed on election day by completing an application, making a written oath, and providing proof of identity and residence. Registration by July 22 is encouraged to avoid delays at the polls.
Brighton and Washington residents may register at the Washington County Courthouse or at any driver’s license station. They may also do this online at washingtoncounty.iowa.gov. The Auditor’s Office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be open until 5 p.m. on the July 22 deadline. With questions, contact the Auditor’s Office at 319-653-7717.
