The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed the approval of the state of Iowa crossing safety improvement project agreement for the railroad crossing on Dogwood Avenue at their Tuesday meeting. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius gave more information, “So this is the actual agreement between the state, railroad, and county. We were awarded a year ago, maybe more than that $550,000 to help put in new crossing signals and all that warning lights and gates at this new crossing on Dogwood Avenue. This formalizes that, we have an estimate from the railroad, this allows us to move forward so that materials can start being ordered, and hopefully in six months, we will have everything to start the installation of the signals.”  The Supervisors approved the agreement for the safety improvement of the railroad crossing on Dogwood Avenue.
