A campaign is underway to raise funds for a new multi-purpose barn on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. Just ahead of the 2024 Louisa County Fair, an additional $45,000 have been raised thanks to a pair of local organizations.
In June, the Community Foundation of Louisa County pledged $25,000 to the barn project, while earlier this month, Washington State Bank donated $20,000. Fundraising efforts are part of a campaign to match $250,000 donated by Kent Corporation in March.
With some of their current facilities constructed as far back as 1953, the new building on the Fairgrounds will be 272 feet long. It will have the space to house 36 cattle tie stalls, 22 double goat pens, 50 sheep pens, and 80 hog pens. There will be space for poultry and rabbits, and the center of the building will feature a show ring.
The overall goal for the new multi-purpose barn is $2,000,000. The 2024 Louisa County Fair begins on Tuesday, July 23 and continues through Saturday.
