After the Henry County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution in May declaring Emergency Medical Services (EMS) an essential service, voters will soon decide on whether or not to approve a $0.75 Essential Services Tax.

The vote, which will be on Tuesday, September 10, would need at least 60% approval. If it were to pass, it would do away with the current $0.27 hospital levy. While this is a difference of $0.48 per $1,000 valuation, it would more than double the funding for Henry County EMS. A vote for the tax will also allow 24/7 EMS services to continue.
