August 14 is the deadline for commodity and specialty crop producers to apply for the Emergency Relief Program (ERP) for 2022 natural disaster losses. This announcement was made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which has been accepting ERP applications since October 2023.
Disasters include wildfires, floods, derechos, excessive heat, tornadoes, winter storms, smoke exposure, drought, and other related conditions. ERP 2022 covers losses to crops, trees, and vines due to any of those disasters occurring in the 2022 calendar year.
There are two application tracks for ERP 2022: one leverages existing federal crop insurance, and the other is a revenue-based certification program. Additional forms may be required, and must be on file within 60 days of the August 14 application deadline.
