The Hillcrest Academy Raven volleyball program has spent their summer vacation hard at work. The Ravens just wrapped up their summer camps at Hillcrest Union with fourth through sixth graders in the gym each day from July eighth through the 11th and seventh through 12th graders in action Monday through Thursday of this week. In total, 97 athletes participated in the two weeks of workouts that focused on serving, passing, hitting and setting through drill work and games. The camp was staffed by Hillcrest Academy head volleyball coach Brandon Statler, along with Raven assistant coach Kendra Vislisel, Deb Swantz, Julie Gordinier and the varsity Hillcrest team working as demonstrators and participants.

A busy off-season continues for the Ravens into August. They go to a team competition camp at Central College in Pella August 5th and 6th, and a scrimmage camp there August 7th and 8th. Two more scrimmages will serve as tune-ups for 2024 for Hillcrest when they scrimmage Highland, Columbus and Louisa-Muscatine on August 20th and Washington, WACO and Keota August 22nd. The Ravens officially open the year at Highland September 5th.
