A very young Highland Huskies squad had a solid baseball season, finishing second in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and going 11-14 overall. Eight of their players have come away with All-Super Conference North recognition.
That group includes junior William Dunbar, who is chosen as a first-team infielder. Dunbar had team highs of 28 total hits and a .373 batting average while also coming up with eight doubles, a home run, 17 runs batted in and 18 runs scored.
Fellow junior Logan McFarland tied for the team high of 28 hits and also led Highland with 18 RBI and 20 runs scored while hitting .333 on his way to a first-team selection at outfielder.
Junior Colten Sypherd represents the Huskies as a second-team pitcher after posting a team-best 2.07 earned-run average and racking up 51 strikeouts in nearly 41 innings of work.
Catcher Garrett Beeson threw out seven runners and had a .963 fielding percentage on his way to the second team, while fellow freshman Landon Roling had 20 knocks, 13 RBI and a .263 average that helped him become a second-team infielder.
Junior Ryker Miller showed off his power on his way to second-team honors after the outfielder scored 18 times and batted .298 with six doubles, two homers and 12 RBI. Honorable mentions for Highland go to sophomore Bryce Hazelett and eighth-grader Caleb Wheeler.
