The Iowa Barn Foundation will be holding their annual All-State Barn Tour September 14-15 featuring a record 92 barns across the state. The self-guided tour is free and open to the public, and barns are open for touring inside and out. This year’s tour will feature a record 11 round barns, which each demonstrate masterful craftsmanship that rivals any other structures in the world. There is no other tour like it in the country. KCII Listening area barns featured include the Knotek-Marek Barn (New for 2024), located at 2510 180th Street, Riverside, and the Strabala Barn at 1830 290th Street in Washington. The all-state tour highlights barns that have received matching grants from the Iowa Barn Foundation for their restoration and those that have received an Award of Distinction or Preservation Award for restoration by the owner. Founded in 1997, the Iowa Barn Foundation is a volunteer-led non-profit dedicated to preserving Iowa’s rural agricultural buildings.
