At approximately 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service Quad Cities Office issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Washington and Keokuk counties in the KCII listening area until 5:30 a.m.

A second Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued around 5:05 for the same counties, and remained in effect until 5:45 a.m. Radar-indicated threats with this storm included 60 mph winds and nickel-sized hail. Gusts up to 40 mph were reported in Richland and Washington received a half inch of rainfall.

Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team helped provide live coverage of the storms. Had the power gone out, coverage would have continued thanks to KCII’s backup generator. The one to count on for severe weather coverage is AM and FM KCII.
