At approximately 3 p.m., the National Weather Service Quad Cities Office issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwest Washington, southeast Keokuk, and northwest Jefferson counties in the KCII listening area.
The system was recorded moving at 35 mph towards the east. Radar-indicated threats with this storm included 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail. This Severe Thunderstorm Warning expired for Washington County at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team helped provide live coverage of the storms. Had the power gone out, coverage would have continued thanks to KCII’s backup generator. The one to count on for severe weather coverage is AM and FM KCII.
