Following last week’s state championship games for baseball and softball, including a Sigourney softball title, all Iowa high schools are now observing a non-contact period.
Also called “Family Week,” the non-contact period began on Sunday and continues through next Sunday, August 4. During this time, there will be no high school athletic, musical, or speech-related activities. Coaches and teachers are not allowed to contact students, and the use of school facilities is prohibited.
The non-contact period includes the Iowa High School Athletic Association, Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, Iowa High School Music Association, and Iowa High School Speech Association. This is the fourth year that the State has mandated the week-long break.
