Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf standout Gabi Robertson got it done this season on the course and in the classroom. The Mid-Prairie senior was recognized recently as an Academic All-State selection in Class 2A by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Robertson tied for the team lead with a 48 average per nine holes and 92 average on 18. This season she posted individual scores of 42 on nine and 84 on 18 that were the lowest rounds by any Golden Hawk on the year. Robertson was part of a Mid-Prairie team that won the River Valley Conference team title for the second straight season, shooting a team score 373 at Muscatine where she was named All-RVC. She was part of a Golden Hawk team that made program history, qualifying for the Class 2A State Tournament for the third consecutive season. The Hawks were runners-up in the opening round of regionals in Kalona with a team score 379, where Robertson shot 95. They followed that up with another runner-up performance in the regional finals at West Liberty to qualify for State, shooting 386, where Robertson carded a 94.
At the State Tournament in Boone, Robertson went 84 on day one, a career best, and 85 on day two for a 169 total, finishing in an 11th place tie in 2A to earn a spot on the All-State Tournament team. The Golden Hawks finished fifth in 2A as a team, their highest placing in 15 years, with a 732 total that included a team school record 365 on day one. Robertson was ranked No. 39 in 2A in the final Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association Poll of the year. As a team the Golden Hawks were ranked No. 7 in the final Class 2A coaches poll and ended the season with a 53-10 overall record.
In order to be named IGCA Academic All-State a student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, an ACT score of 27 or higher and rank in the top 20% of their graduating class.
