The Washington County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday. On the agenda was the discussion of the method of determining compensation for Washington County elected officials. Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. shared some insight, “I think since we are trying to determine if the Board of Supervisors is going to set the salary of all of the elected officials, I think that the elected officials should weigh in on what they think. So maybe invite them all to do that next week at the board meeting.” The Supervisors will be making their final decision on the compensation of County officials at their next meeting. This discussion is due to the passage of Senate File 2442 Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed and put into effect on July 1st, giving county Boards of Supervisors the authority to do away with or continue to have a compensation board.
