Following a big year on the diamond, four members of the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team were recognized this week by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association with selections to Class 2A All-District teams.

Two Golden Hawks were chosen as first-teamers. Junior Tatem Telfer is a first team All-District pitcher. Telfer was also River Valley Conference South Division Player of the Year and a first team All-RVC choice on the mound. He threw 29 innings with a 4-1 record and 1.95ERA. Telfer allowed two hits all season fewest in 2A, a microscopic .024 opponent batting average, lowest in 2A baseball, and eight earned runs while striking out 70. At the plate, he hit a team leading .382, second in the RVC, with a .491OBP, sixth in conference, and a .596 slug, third in the RVC. Telfer had 34 total hits, fourth in the RVC and 31RBI, 10th most in Class 2A, with 25 runs scored, fifth most in conference, collected 18 walks, eighth in the RVC and smashed a team high five homers, second most in 2A in Iowa.

Junior Brady Weber is a first team All-District utility man. Weber was also a first Team All River Valley Utility choice. Weber hit .318 with a .468OBP and .400 slug with 27 total knocks 10th conference play, 27 runs scored, third in the River Valley and 17 RBI while drawing 17 walks, ninth in league play. On the mound he finished with a 3-2 record in a team high 35 innings with a .212 opponent average and 1.78ERA with 45 strikeouts.

Two Hawks were selected to the second team. Senior Bowen Burmeister is a second team Utility man. He was a first team RVC infielder. Burmeister hit .360 on the season, seventh in the River Valley, with a .481OBP, ninth in conference and a .453 slug. He had 31 total hits, sixth in the RVC, 24 runs scored, sixth in conference play, 22RBI, eighth in the River Valley, and 16 walks, 10th in conference. He made six starts on the mound, finishing with a 4-2 record across 24 innings with a 4.14ERA, 28Ks and a .247 opponent average against.

Senior Brock Harland was a second team All-District selection at catcher. Harland was chosen as second team All-RVC behind the plate. He hit .303 with a .480OBP, 10th in the RVC, and a .355 slug. Harland had 23 total hits, 25RBI, fifth in the league, and collected 20 walks, seventh in conference. As a backstop, he committed just two errors all season, finishing with a 99% fielding percentage, fifth highest in 2A for those with at least 200 chances, threw out eight would-be base-stealers, 9th most in 2A baseball, and called pitches for a Golden Hawk staff that finished with a collective 3.12ERA and .235 opponent average against. In his time on the mound, Harland worked 34 innings, posting a 2-3 record, .268 opponent average and 3.67ERA.

The Golden Hawks ended the season 19-10 overall, and finished 13-5 in the River Valley Conference, winning the South Division title for the second straight season.
