This summer was one of the most brilliant that Sigourney Savage baseball has ever had, making their first-ever trip to the state tournament along with finishing second in the South Iowa Cedar League. Eight players who helped make that phenomenal season possible are rewarded for their efforts with all-conference selections.
Featured in that group is Caden Clarahan, a first-team choice at pitcher for a second straight year. The junior had a 6-3 record on the mound and a team-best 1.60 earned-run average while also racking up a team-high 71 strikeouts in 48 innings of work.
Clarahan was also an all-state caliber hitter this season, posting a team-best .542 batting average, seven doubles, six home runs and 42 runs batted in. Fellow junior Cole McKay joins him on the first team after the infielder hit .354 and scored a team-high 35 runs.
Senior Reid Molyneux wraps up his Sigourney career as a first-team all-conference outfielder, batting .361 with seven doubles, a homer and 22 RBI at the plate. Junior Issac Bruns showed off his power with the bat by hitting nine doubles and three home runs, earning first-team honors after the outfielder also hit .326 with 34 runs driven in.
Senior Jake Moore was a stalwart for the Savages at the top of the order with McKay and gets a second-team nod as an infielder after batting .326 with a home run, 30 runs scored, another 22 batted in and 23 stolen bases.
Chase Clarahan makes the second team for Sigourney as a pitcher, yielding just a 3.05 ERA in 39 innings on the bump and collecting 49 strikeouts. The freshman also hit six doubles and a homer on his way to 19 RBI. Honorable mentions for the Savages are junior Brady Clark and freshman Lincoln Power.
