The Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to advise residents of what constitutes an emergency and warrants a 911 call.

911 should be called in a life or death moment, when there’s been a serious accident, when an ambulance is needed, or when a serious crime is in progress, such as an attack, assault, robbery, or burglary. Non-emergencies include, but are not limited to crimes that are not in progress, requests to unlock unoccupied vehicles, discovered theft, neighborhood issues, and scam, parking, noise, or animal complaints. For a non-emergency such as these, residents can instead call 319-385-2712.

Misuse of dialing 911 could keep dispatchers from responding to actual emergencies in a timely manner.
