A Golden Hawk senior golf duo have been honored for their work on the course and in the classroom this spring. Mid-Prairie’s Madi Davidson and Gabi Robertson were recently announced as Academic All-State selections in Class 2A by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association.
The two tied for the team lead with 48 averages per nine holes and 92 on 18. Davidson finished the year ranked No. 31 in the final Class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association, Robertson was No. 39. Both were part of a Golden Hawk team that repeated as River Valley Conference Champions with a team score of 373 and the duo were named All-RVC. The two also helped the Hawks made school history, reaching the state tournament for the third consecutive season for the first time ever, after finishing as team runners-up in the home regional opener and the regional finals at West Liberty. Davidson shot a team best 89 at West Liberty, including 43 on the front, to finish sixth overall. She was named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 2A All-Region 5 team.
At State, the Golden Hawks put together the program’s best finish in 15 seasons, taking 5th as a team with a 732 two day total, that included a school record 365 on the opening 18. Robertson shot a 169 total across the two days, including a career best 84 on day one in Boone to finish in a tie for 11th place and earn a spot on the All-State Tournament Team in 2A. Robertson was also named IGCA Academic All-State this season.
Mid-Prairie finished the season with a 53-10 record and ranked No. 7 in the final Class 2A team poll of the year.
