A 32-year-old Burlington man has been arrested on multiple felony charges after a home invasion in Grandview Monday. According a press release from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, just after 5p.m. Monday, the Louisa County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female stating there was an attack by an unknown male at 314 N. Main Street in Grandview with what she believed to be a pipe. Authorities responded to the scene to find that three members of the Giovanazzi family had been assaulted with a metal rod and a kitchen knife. One family member remains in critical condition at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.
After speaking with victims and witnesses, authorities determined that Nathan Ferguson had appeared at the residence, forcefully entered, and perpetrated the attack. All of the victims are related to Ferguson. After the Giovanazzi family were able to fight off the attacker, Ferguson fled to Burlington in a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix where he was arrested by the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and West Burlington Police Department.
At this time, Ferguson has been charged with six Class C Felonies that include two counts of Willful Injury, two counts of Felony Assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of Intimidation with a dangerous weapon. The case is ongoing and further charges are possible. He is currently in custody in the Louisa County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Grandview Fire Department, Louisa County Ambulance, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, West Burlington Police Department and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
