The third biggest story in Hillcrest Academy sports from last year takes us to Des Moines for the State Archery competition. Five Hillcrest students who are part of the Golden Hawk Archery club qualified for this year’s State meet. Isabelle Frederick, Ava Miller, Morgyn Nafziger, Noah Coblentz and Braxton Ropp all shot at State this year.

At the high school level, Nafziger was the bullseye leader with a 272, finishing 159th out of 810 girls competitors. Other high school bullseye shooters included Miller with a 267 and Frederick at 214. In high school 3D, Nafziger was the leader with a 268 to finish 98th out of 339 girls competing. Miller shot a 265.

At the elementary level, Coblentz led the way in bullseye with a 258, to finish 157th of 1131 competing, Ropp finished with a 253. In 3D, Coblentz was also the leader with a 262 to place 262nd out of 492 shooters. Ropp scored 198.
