Just after 5:30p.m. Saturday, August 10th, Washington County Dispatch received a report of a home explosion at 2560 170th Street, Riverside, near Riverside road. Area authorities responded to the property to find an explosion in a vacant home. One of the responding fire fighters tells KCII News that it was a vacant home with gas and electric service still on to provide water to livestock housed on the property. The explosion damaged a large part of the house. There was no resulting fire so many of the agencies who arrived on scene were disregarded. Those who responded included the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Ambulance, Riverside Fire and QRS, Kalona Fire, Ainsworth Fire and Washington Fire.
