A first-year player shined on the diamond this summer for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team. Junior Tatem Telfer was named the 2024 River Valley Conference South Division Player of the Year. He threw 29 innings with a 4-1 record and 1.95ERA. Telfer allowed two hits all season fewest in 2A, a microscopic .024 opponent batting average, lowest in 2A baseball, and eight earned runs while striking out 70. At the plate, he hit a team leading .382, second in the RVC, with a .491OBP, sixth in conference, and a .596 slug, third in the RVC. Telfer had 34 total hits, fourth in the RVC and 31RBI, 10th most in Class 2A, with 25 runs scored, fifth most in conference, collected 18 walks, eighth in the RVC and smashed a team high five homers, second most in 2A in Iowa.
Telfer was a first-team All-RVC selection and first-team All-District choice. He completed his first year at Mid-Prairie after transferring from Cardinal of Eldon.
