The Iowa Association of Track Coaches has released their preseason rankings ahead of the 2024 cross country season and the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls are well represented. The Mid-Prairie boys are No. 3 in Class 2A to start the season. The Hawks finished 10th as a team at the 2A State Meet in Fort Dodge a season ago. There are two ranked runners in the Mid-Prairie lineup to start the year including the defending Class 2A individual state champion senior Emmett Swartzentruber who starts the season atop the poll. Senior Preston Yutzy is 19th in 2A to start the year after a 39th place finish in Fort Dodge at State to end last season.
The Mid-Prairie girls begin the year ranked No. 8 in Class 2A after winning the River Valley Conference title, State Qualifier meet championship and finishing fourth in Class 2A at State a season ago. The Hawks have one ranked runner in their lineup with sophomore Brooklyn Stutzman starting at No. 23.
The Golden Hawks officially get the season started Tuesday with a meet at Williamsburg.
