The Columbus Wildcats fell in all three matches they played last night at the Wapello Tournament. Columbus dropped each of their two sets against Holy Trinity Catholic by scores of 21-9 before also getting swept by Wilton, 21-11 and 21-12, and the Wildcats would also be beaten in straight sets by Central Lee, 21-16 and 21-17.
Audrey Hoback led Columbus with totals of six kills and 11 digs for the night, while fellow junior Kennedy Woepking also had six kills and came up with 10 digs on defense.
Junior middle hitter Jessica Del Rio had five kills and one blocked shot for the Wildcats, while junior defensive specialist Jocelyn Hernandez led the team with 19 total digs and junior setter Daniea Diaz handed out a team-high 18 assists to go with 10 digs.
With the defeats, Columbus’ record early in the season drops to 1-5. The ‘Cats can bounce back when they next host Lone Tree for their first conference match of 2024 on Thursday.
