It was a clean road sweep for the No. 6 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team Tuesday as they took down Vinton-Shellsburg and Indepdence in straight sets in Vinton. The Mustangs were no match for Mid-Prairie as the Hawks won 21-7 and 21-11. Against the home Vikettes it was more of the same, 21-13 and 21-12 Golden Hawks. Stars for the night for Mid-Praire included Avery Helmuth leading with 22 assists. Jovi Evans put together 15 assists, 12 digs, eight kills and two aces. Jeorgia Evans finished with 18 digs. Katelyn Harland was the kills leader with a dozen, Harper Pacha had 10 to go with two blocks. Dakota Mitchell had 24 digs and Lanee Duwa 10. The sweep moves the Hawks to 9-2 ahead of Thursday’s home conference opener against West Branch.
