It was a big weekend for local volleyball teams at the English Valleys Tournament Saturday. The Sigourney Savages rolled to a 4-0 day. They scored wins over Hillcrest Academy 21-16, 16-21, and 15-13, WACO 21-13 and 21-5, Winfield-Mt. Union 25-16, 18-25 and 18-16 and Collins-Maxwell 21-5 and 21-14. Top Savages on the day included Taylor Rozenboom with 35 assists and Bailey Gretter with 21. Reagan Clarahan with 21 kills, Josephine Moore with 20. Moore with 19 digs and Dani Aller with 18. Addy Fineran with seven blocks, Clarahan with five and Moore with five aces and Gretter with four. The Savages are now 7-1 on the year.
Hillcrest went 3-1 on the day. After their loss to Sigourney, they posted wins over WACO 21-13 and 21-3, Collins-Maxwell 21-8 and 21-13 and English Valleys 21-13 and 21-17. Top Ravens on the day included Claire Withrow with 69 assists, Malia Yoder with 31 kills and Kylee Statler with 14. Yoder had 26 digs, Lydia Beachy had 24. Statler and Zoey Curtiss each had two blocks and Marryn Boshart had 12 aces and Erin Bontrager and Yoder had five each. The Ravens are now 6-2 on the year.
Winfield-Mt. Union was also 3-1 on the day. Following their loss to Sigourney, the Wolves reeled off wins over East Marshall 18-21, 21-16 and 15-10, Cardinal 23-21 and 21-14 and English Valleys 21-13 and 21-13. Top Wolves on the day were Madisen Kellogg with 61 assists, Quinn Smith with 30 kills, Kellee Milks with 22. Josie Nelson with 52 digs, Milks with 44. Six blocks for Smith, three each for Kellogg and Katie Miller and four aces each for Miller and Kaelyn Townsley. WMU is now 6-3 on the season.
WACO was .500 on the day at 2-2. After their losses to Sigourney and Hillcrest Academy, the Warriors were winners against Collins-Maxwell 18-21, 21-10 and 15-5 and Cardinal 14-21, 21-18 and 16-14. Top Warriors on the day were Kinsey Hildebrand with 24 assists and Morgan Meyer with 20. Carlee Lunsford had 15 kills, Brenna Graber 14. Graber added 39 digs, Lunsford 26. Drew Graber had two blocks Peyton Graber and Courtney Waterhouse had one each. Lunsford finished with seven aces and Hildebrand had five. The Warriors stand at 5-7 on the season.
